Three Confirms Dead as Building Collapsed in Jigawa

Following the collapse of a building in Kofar Bai Quarters, Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State, three individuals has been confirmed dead in the incident.

This incident was confirmed in a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Police Command, DSP Lawan Adam, on Tuesday.

“On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at approximately 00:05hrs, Ahmad Isah of Kofar Bai Quarters, Birnin Kudu LGA reported to the Birnin Kudu Division that on September 9, 2024, at around 23:50hrs, a room in his residential house collapsed.

“Upon receiving the tragic report, a team of police officers was dispatched to the scene,” Adam said.

He emphasized that the police, in conjunction with a just fellow, launched a rescue operation and were able to bring out seven individuals.

He added that when the victims were taken to the hospital for treatment, three were confirmed dead.

“The victims were quickly transported to Birnin Kudu General Hospital for medical attention.

“Upon arrival, the attending physician confirmed that three of the seven victims had passed away,” Adam said.

The deceased were Khalifa Ahmad, 13; Tijjani Ahmad, 12; and Rabiu Ahmad, 12, all from the same address.

According to him, the bodies were handed over to the family for burial according to Islamic rites, while the other four victims are currently receiving treatment.
