Police have arrested an 18-yr-old male student, Jonathan Neal, who allegedly raped a 14-year-old female student last Thursday.
Both Neal and his accuser are students of Mallard Creek High School, Charlotte, North Carolina, USA.
Student Pulse gathered that school authorities alerted the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers immediately the alleged rape was reported, leading to Nael’s arrest.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Superintendent, Ann Clark, appreciated the police for responding quickly and catching the suspect in a Monday statement issued to Channel 9.
“I am deeply saddened by the report of an alleged assault of a student at Mallard Creek High School,” Clark said.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the student and family members impacted by this situation.”
Nael has been charged with one count of second-degree rape and is being held at Charlotte-Mecklenburg jail.
Investigators say the reason Neal was charged with second-degree rape is because no weapon was used– only physical force.
Neal, a defender, played an important role on Mallard Creek’s Championship Football team that went undefeated and has a football scholarship.
