Prolific Super Falcons striker, Asisat Oshoala, has made a significant move to Bay FC, a newly established National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club, departing from FC Barcelona Femeni.

The announcement of Oshoala’s signing was made by Bay FC through a statement on its official website on Thursday, marking a notable milestone in the footballer’s career.

In a groundbreaking move, Oshoala signed a two-year deal with Bay FC, with an option to extend the contract for an additional year until 2027.

The statement from Bay FC reads, “Bay FC, the Bay Area’s new women’s professional soccer franchise in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), have acquired the rights to Nigerian international Asisat Oshoala through a transfer with FC Barcelona Femení of Liga F in Spain in exchange for a transfer fee.”

“Following the transfer, the forward was signed to a contract through the 2026 season with an option for the 2027 campaign. She will join the team and be added to the roster pending the receipt of her P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC). Oshoala will occupy an international roster spot.”

Oshoala’s stint at FC Barcelona Femeni spanned five remarkable years, during which she exhibited outstanding performance, scoring an impressive 107 goals in 149 appearances. Her tenure with the club saw her clinch two UEFA Women’s Champions League titles, four Spanish league titles, three Spanish Super Cups, and the Copa de la Reina.

In 2022, Oshoala finished as the joint top scorer in the Spanish league, netting 19 goals, further solidifying her reputation as one of the most formidable strikers in women’s football.

Her exceptional achievements with FC Barcelona Femeni earned her multiple accolades, including several CAF women’s footballer of the year awards.
