Nigeria’s Senate President on Sunday, said the Super Falcons’ victory at the Africa Women Cup of Nations, AWCON, in Cameroon shows that with determination Nigeria can overcome its challenges.

Saraki said this in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, in Abuja.

He hailed the team and crew for retaining the title, and added that the victory could not have come at a better moment.

“The record win of the AWCON Cup by the Super Falcons has again demonstrated clearly that with determination we can surmount any obstacle confronting us as a nation.

“I have no doubt that through team work and single-mindedness, we can overcome our present economic challenges,’’ he was quoted as saying.

The Nigerian girls lifted the trophy of the AWCON in Cameroon after beating the host team 1-0 to retain the title in Yaounde on Saturday.

And Saraki commended the team and its technical crew for their patriotism and sense of purpose.

Saraki further called on government and private sector to support sports in the country to enable Nigerian sportsmen and women excel in their career.
