Captain Ahmed Musa has expressed the Super Eagles’ unwavering desire to secure victory at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.

The three-time champions are considered among the top contenders for the prestigious biennial football competition.

Musa, a key figure in the Super Eagles squad that clinched the AFCON trophy in 2013 in South Africa, believes that the team possesses the necessary quality and mindset to emerge triumphant in Cote d’Ivoire.

Speaking about the team’s aspirations, Musa stated, “We have the quality to win it. If you see the players in the 25-man squad, you can’t say we are not going to win. You know in football anything can happen, but we have the mindset to win it.”

The Super Eagles, managed by the experienced coach, are determined to make a significant impact in the tournament.

Musa highlighted the team’s collective goal, emphasizing that the coach has set winning the AFCON as the primary target.

“The coach has already said his target is to win the AFCON, and by God’s grace, we are going to win it,” Musa affirmed.

Nigeria has been drawn into Group A alongside hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau. The Super Eagles’ first match is scheduled against Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea on Sunday, January 14.
