The Super Eagles defeated Luxembourg 3-1 in their second international friendly in four days on Tuesday.

It was their second win in four days after earlier pipping Mali 1-0 on Friday.

Goals from Brown Ideye, Odion Ighalo and Kelechi Iheanacho, his second goal in two games, secured the win for the Eagles.

Luxembourg’s goal was scored by Vincent Thill.

The hosts almost went in front in the fifth minute but Musa Mohammed was on hand to clear the danger.

Alex Iwobi had Nigeroa’s first real chance in the 11th minute, going one-on-one with the hosts’ keeper but the Arsenal starlet failed to score.

A minute later Aminu Umar missed from close range off Ideye’s knock down.

Ideye went close for the Eagles in the half hour mark but his effort was parried away by Luxembourg’s keeper.

The Eagles finally broke the deadlock on 35 minutes through Ideye, who finished off a rebound by Onazi after Umar had set the chance up following a brilliant run from the left.

It was Ideye’s first Nigeria goal since 2013, although he was out of the team for a long time.

In the 57th minute, the Eagles made two changes with Moses Simon and Michael Babatunde replacing Alex Iwobi and Aminu Umar.

The Eagles made another double change on 64 minutes, replacing the duo of Shehu Abdullahi and Onazi with Moses Simon and Raheem Lawal.

Iheanacho made it 2-0 for the Eagles in the 69th minute, finishing off Simon’s pass with a simple tap-in following a mix-up in the Luxembourg defence.

Substitute Ighalo had a glorious chance in the 79th minute when he had a one-on-one with the opposition keeper but he couldn’t find the back of the net.

With six minutes remaining Ighalo finally put the ball in the net but it was ruled out for an infringement.

In the 89th minute, Luxembourg got on the score sheet through Thill who took advantage of Omeruo’s slip up.

But in the 91st minute, Ighalo restored the Eagles two goal lead to make it 3-1 off an assist from Iheanacho.
