Stella Odua Wins Anambra North Senatorial Seat.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced a former Aviation Minister, Princess Stella Oduah, as winner of the election for Anambra North Senatorial District.

Ms Oduah contested the senatorial seat on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party.

She defeated her major opponent, Chief Dubem Obaze of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.

A breakdown of results as announced by the INEC Returning Officer, Dr. Celestine Okaro, shows that the former minister won in four out of the seven local government areas that make up the senatorial district.

In Onitsha North LGA PDP- 42,239 APGA- 8,868; Onitsha South LGA PDP- 25,890 APGA- 10,112; Ayamelum LGA PDP- 9,782 APGA- 15,292; Oyi LGA PDP – 12,301 APGA – 10,683; Ogbaru LGA PDP – 33,542 APGA – 7,558; Anambra East LGA PDP – 8,871 APGA – 12,342; Anambra West LGA PDP – 9,007 APGA – 5,863.

Having satisfied the requirements according to the constitution by securing the highest number of votes cast, the Returning Officer declared Oduah winner with 143, 478 votes against Obaze’s 70,906 votes.
