Yakubu Dogara, the new Speaker of the House of Representatives has appointed a former colleague of his – Jerry Manwe – as his Chief of Staff.

Dogara conveyed the appointment of Manwe to the clerk of the national assembly in a letter of appointment with reference No. NASS/SPK/MGT/VOL.I/002 dated 15th June, 2015.

Manwe was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party on which platform he became a member of the House of Representatives from 2007 to 2015. He only defected in January this year to the Social Democratic Party after he failed to get the PDP’s ticket to return to the House. He claimed that his defection had to do with imposition of candidates during the PDP primary in his home state of Taraba.
