The Sokoto state government has responded to Vice President Kashim Shettima’s warning regarding the alleged plan to depose the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar. The government has asked the Vice President to verify facts before commenting on sensitive national matters.

In a statement, the government stated that there was no attempt to sack the Sultan or threaten him, and that he enjoys all his powers and freedoms. The government expressed surprise that the Vice President did not consult with Governor Ahmed Aliyu before going public with his warning.

The Sokoto government reassured Nigerians that it will continue to protect the sultanate council and its dignity at all times. The statement emphasized that the government and people of Sokoto cherish and adore the sultanate council and will do everything possible to protect its dignity.
