Nigerian comedian and Skit maker, Chukwuebuka Amuzie, popularly known as Brain Jotter, has shed light on his decision to discontinue making crossdressing skits in his comedy content.

Amuzie, speaking on the recent episode of Channels TV’s ‘Rubbin’ Minds’, revealed that he halted the production of such skits because they were not sustainable for him in the long term.

He explained that while initially, people might find the cross-dressing skits amusing, the novelty wears off over time, and viewers may grow tired of seeing a man dressed in female clothing.

“I have tried it, there was a time I was creating content with the character ‘Madam Ogadi in a church and they were applauding me, calling me a funny guy. So it got to my head and it was almost a niche for me,” Amuzie stated during the interview.

“Now I know better, and I am like that stuff is not sustainable for myself, and I just do not buy the idea because it would not last. People might enjoy it once or twice, but you are not a woman. This is except you are doing it exceptionally well.”

He further exemplified his point by referencing Tyler Perry and the character of Madea, noting that while Madea’s character resonates with audiences, it takes a remarkable portrayal to transcend the limitations of crossdressing comedy.

“For example, Tyler Perry and the character of Madea, people love Madea. So you have to get to that point where people would not be able to tell you anything but you cannot be wearing a woman’s cloth with beards,” Amuzie added.
