Nigerian comedian and actor Seyi Law has declared that he will never support Labour Party’s Peter Obi in any future political contest, citing personal attacks from members of the Obidient movement as the reason behind his firm stance.

In a recent appearance on the Teju Babyface Show, the 41-year-old entertainer—who openly backed President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 general elections—explained that supporters of Peter Obi crossed the line by targeting his wife and children with insults during the heat of the campaign.

“The moment you cross that boundary from me to my children, mother, and wife, there is no forgiveness,” Seyi Law said.

“That is why there is nothing on earth that Peter Obi can do that will make me support him.”

According to him, the former Anambra State governor failed to condemn or call out the actions of some of his more aggressive supporters, which, in Seyi Law’s view, makes Obi unfit for his support.

“They attacked my children and my wife. As long as Peter Obi does not call them to order and he keeps denying that they are doing that, he will never get my support,” he added.

“Let Peter Obi wear the garment of Jesus Christ today, he will never get my support.”

The comedian also criticized the Obidient movement, describing it as a “cult” that does not tolerate free thinking or diverse opinions.

“Any organisation that does not support free thinking is a cult,” he said. “Hate or love me, my personal way of life is between me and God.”

Despite his strong words, Seyi Law noted that he is generally not one to hold grudges unless family members are involved.

“One of the good things that God has done for me is that my anger does not last long,” he said. “The only place it lasts long is when you leave me and attack my children, mother, and wife.”
