Seven Persons Linked to Dino Melaye’s Assassination Attempt Arrested

Police in Kogi state have apprehended seven persons in connection with the assassination attempt on Senator Dino Melaye at his home in Aiyetoro-Gbede, Ijumu local government area of the state.


 

The senator narrowly escaped death on Saturday, as gunmen invaded his house at about midnight through the bush and opened fire from different directions.

Concise News has gathered from a police source that the command has found a black sport utility vehicle suspected to have been used for the operation.

It was further learned that a cache of ammunition was discovered by the State Criminal Investigation Department.

The seven suspects were said to have been nabbed at separate locations.

Meanwhile, police have invited the Administrator of Ijumu Local Government Area, Taofiq Isa, to their headquarters, even as they continue the hunt for the remaining suspects.

Isa had been accused by Melaye of being the mastermind of the attempt on his life.

But the local government boss has denied involvement in the assassination attempt on Melaye.

He said on the day of the incident, he was attending to his sick wife and supervising the All Progressives Congress’ re-registration exercise.
