A terrorist attack has left at least seven villagers feared dead in Maidabino village, Danmusa local government area of Katsina state. The attack, which occurred on June 22, 2024, around 10:00 pm, also saw the abduction of an unspecified number of persons, mainly women and children, who were taken to a nearby forest.

According to eyewitnesses, the hoodlums, armed with sophisticated weapons, operated for about three hours, shooting sporadically and setting ablaze the bodies of those killed. The attack also resulted in the burning down of several houses, shops, and motor vehicles worth millions of Naira belonging to the residents.

The Police Spokesman in the state, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident and stated that investigation is currently ongoing. In a text message, he said, “Yesterday, June 22, 2024, at about 2000 hrs, armed bandits in their numbers, armed with dangerous weapons, shooting sporadically, attacked Maidabino village, Danmusa LGA, where they shot and killed about 7 persons. Investigation is currently ongoing, and further developments will be communicated in due course.”
