Seplat Energy Plc, a leading Nigerian energy company, is delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs. Chioma Y. Afe as the Director of External Affairs and Sustainability, effective June 15th, 2023.

With an impressive track record in strategic communications and extensive experience in diverse industries, Chioma brings valuable expertise to her new role.

Chioma Y. Afe is a seasoned Senior Communications Executive and Business Leader with over 25 years of experience in developing and implementing impactful communication strategies.

Her strategic vision has consistently driven business growth, enhanced brand reputation, and fostered revenue generation.

Prior to joining Seplat Energy, Chioma served in various capacities at the Access Bank Group. She made significant contributions to the organization as the Group Head of Marketing and Communications for the banking group.

As a member of the executive team, she oversaw corporate and retail communication teams across Nigeria and the African subsidiary markets, leaving a lasting impact on the bank’s strategic messaging and branding efforts.

Before her time at Access Bank, Chioma held the position of Divisional Head of Corporate Communications at Diamond Bank Plc, where she played a vital role in strengthening the bank’s communication channels and establishing its brand as a leader in the industry.

Throughout her career, Chioma has worked in esteemed organizations such as DSTV (MultiChoice Nigeria Ltd), Cadbury Mondelez, Airtel, Coca-Cola Nigeria, British American Tobacco (BATN), Andersen, and Tequila Nigeria Limited.

Her leadership and managerial capacities spanned both local and pan-African responsibilities, further enriching her expertise in effective communication strategies across diverse markets.

Education has always been a priority for Chioma, and she embodies a lifelong learning mindset.

She holds an MBA from the prestigious Imperial College Business School in London, a Diploma in Marketing from the Institute of Direct Marketing London, and a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Port Harcourt.

Beyond her professional achievements, Chioma actively engages in professional associations and industry bodies.

She serves as a Board Member of Women in Management, Business & Public Service (WIMBIZ), an organization committed to empowering women leaders.

Additionally, she is an EXCO member of the Advertisers Association of Nigeria, where she contributes her expertise to shape the advertising landscape.

Chioma is also a Full member of the National Institute of Marketing Nigeria, demonstrating her commitment to upholding high professional standards.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Chioma cherishes her role as a devoted wife and loving mother to four beautiful children.
