Senator Abdul Ningi, representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District, has refuted allegations suggesting that he accused the National Assembly of padding the 2024 budget with a substantial sum of N3 trillion.

Addressing his colleagues during the Senate open session in Abuja, Senator Ningi categorically denied making such remarks, branding the attributed comments as “fake.”

“I have never said somebody was blinded. Secondly, I have never said the budget was padded,” clarified the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator.

Ningi emphasized that he had not issued any statement resembling the alleged observation, asserting that it was a fabricated document.

The unfolding situation led to a mild drama within the Senate chambers when Senator Olamilekan Adeola, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, entered visibly agitated by the development. Adeola, representing Ogun West, expressed his frustration, urging for transparency in addressing the matter.

Earlier, Adeola had planned to hold a press conference on the issue but opted to bring it to the Senate floor for internal resolution.
