Africa is indeed a blessed continent filled with great talents in every sector including football.

Most African footballers, who play for big teams, are paid immensely for the great work they do on the field of play.

The question now is, who is the highest paid footballer in Africa so far this year? Most of them are new signings at the Chinese Super League and there is no doubt that China is seriously making millionaires out of the players.

10. Victor Moses – Chelsea FC (£50,000)

The Nigerian footballer who plays for the English side, Chelsea FC as a wing-back opens our list of the highest paid African footballers.

8. Ahmed Musa – Leicester City (£60,000)

Another Nigerian, Ahmed Musa takes the number 9 spot. Musa currently plays for the English Premier League defending champions, Leicester City where he earns £60,000 weekly.

7. Kelechi Iheanacho – Manchester City (£85,000)

Manchester City player, Kelechi Iheanacho, is one of the money men who earns a whopping £100,000 weekly.

6. Obafemi Martins – Shanghai Shenhua (£100,000)

One of the Chinese money men, Obafemi Martins is spotted at number 5 on the countdown. He plays for Shanghai Shenhua where he earns, £100,000.

5. John Mikel Obi – Tianjin TEDA (£140,000)

Former Chelsea player, Mikel Obi, who currently plays for the Chinese side, Tianjin TEDA takes the number 5 spot on the countdown. Mikel earns £140,000 weekly.

4. Samuel Eto’o – Antalyaspor (£170,000)

At the number 4 spot, we have the Cameroonian-born star, Samuel Eto’o. He plays for the Turkish side, Antalyaspor where he earns £170,000.

3. Odion Ighalo – Changchun Yatai ((£190,000)

The former Watford player, Odion Ighalo, who recently moved to China takes the number 3 spot on the list. Ighalo currently plays for Changchun Yatai where he earns, £190,000 weekly.

2. Yaya Toure – Manchester City (£220,000)

Yaya Toure is the second highest paid African footballer. The Manchester City playmaker earns £220,000 weekly.

1. Asamoah Gyan – Shanghai SIPG (£227,000)

The Ghanaian international is the 8th highest wage earner in World football and number in Africa after signing a 2-year contract at the Chinese side, Shangai SIPG in 2015. The deal has seen him start earning a whopping $350,000-a-week (£227,000), a weekly amount only bettered by a handful of the planet’s best players.
