Ruth Kadiri, the celebrated Nollywood actress and producer, has opened up about her decision to keep her marriage out of the public spotlight, describing it as a deliberate and mutual choice that has brought peace and stability to her personal life.
Speaking during a recent appearance on the Dear Ife show, the 37-year-old filmmaker explained that the decision to maintain a low profile was jointly made with her husband before they tied the knot in an intimate wedding attended by only 50 guests.
“I invited only 50 people to my wedding. It was exactly what we both wanted, and I didn’t want any drama around my relationship,” Kadiri said.
She described the private ceremony as the “best decision” she has ever made, explaining that it has helped her stay focused, avoid unwanted public scrutiny, and keep her relationship free from external interference.
“I think that’s the best decision I’ve ever made because it has helped me stay grounded and define my relationship. I also don’t have external factors influencing how I relate with my spouse,” she added.
Kadiri further noted that her husband prefers to live a quiet, low-key life, and staying out of the public eye has allowed him to do just that.
“People don’t know him, so there’s no pressure on him. He is just living his life and he doesn’t really like attention anyway.”
While many have speculated about her husband’s identity due to their limited public appearances, Kadiri made it clear that she isn’t hiding him from the world.
“For clarity, my husband is not a secret. People who know me, knows him and that’s enough,” she clarified.
“I’m not hiding him, we go to church and events together, people post his pictures but just because you don’t know him that’s why you can tell. My life is not as private as people think.”
Kadiri and her husband got married in a private ceremony in 2019, and their union has been blessed with two daughters.
