The House of Representatives has given President Muhammadu Buhari 48 hours ultimatum to address the killings in Zamafara and other Northern states of Nigeria.

The lawmakers gave the ultimatum after reaching a resolution during plenary on Thursday.

Mark Gbillah (PDP-Benue), forwarded the motion which was followed under matters of public importance.

They all agreed that Buhari should address them and the nation regarding the attacks on communities in Benue, Zamfara, Kaduna, and other states where many people were killed.

Gbillah said while forwarding his motion that the House was concerned by increasing attacks by ”killer herdsmen and alleged bandits in communities in Benue, Kaduna, Zamfara and other states from Jan. till date.”

“The House is alarmed at the brazen nature of the attacks by the herdsmen and alleged bandits who attack these communities with impunity brazenly clad in military fatigues and audibly communicating with each other in Fulani as reported by eyewitness accounts from the recent attacks in Kaduna.

”Obviously emboldened by the inability of the Nigerian armed forces to curb their activities, these killers have gradually progressed from attacking remote villages at night to sacking whole towns in brood daylight displacing residents and occupying affected communities,” he said.
