Violence erupted in Shimankar community of Shendam local government area in Plateau State following a confrontation between traditional worshippers and Muslim youths. The conflict, which began Sunday night and continued into Monday morning, reportedly left multiple people injured and caused significant property damage.

According to a source who requested anonymity, the violence ignited when traditional worshippers were passing through an area and encountered Muslim youths, leading to a disagreement that escalated into the burning of houses and business establishments.

Local residents, including women and children, were observed fleeing the area while shop owners quickly shuttered their businesses amid the unrest.

Attempts to reach the Chief of Shimankar, Long Menkaat Manu, for comment were unsuccessful as his mobile phone was switched off at the time of the incident.
