Edo State’s reinstated Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has reappointed several aides, including Kingsley Ehigiamusoe as Chief of Staff and Musa Ebomhiana as Chief Press Secretary. However, the Edo State Government has disputed these appointments, calling them “fake” and “provocative.”

The government maintains that a stay of execution has been filed in the upper court, and Marvellous Omobayo remains the recognized Deputy Governor. The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Chris Nehikhare, urged citizens to disregard Shaibu’s actions, which he believes aim to create chaos in the state.

The Federal High Court in Abuja had voided Shaibu’s impeachment as Deputy Governor, leading to the current controversy. The Edo State House of Assembly had impeached Shaibu in April 2024, citing misconduct. The situation remains unresolved, with both sides claiming legitimacy.
