The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the appointment and deployment of 10 Commissioners of Police (CPs) to various commands across the country.

This decision follows the promotion of 14 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to the rank of CP, as disclosed by Mr Ikechukwu Ani, the spokesperson of the PSC, in a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja.

The newly-appointed CPs and their respective commands are as follows:

  1. Peter Opara – Osun
  2. Olughemiga Adesina – Benue
  3. Akinwale Adeniran – Ekiti
  4. Mohammed Abba – Adamawa
  5. Beneth Igwe – FCT
  6. Abaniwonda Olufemi – Delta
  7. Ademola Ayilara – Akwa Ibom
  8. David Iloyanomon – Taraba
  9. Abayomi Peter – Ondo State
  10. Hassan Yabnet – Plateau

Dr Solomon Arase, the Chairman of the PSC, emphasized the importance of rebuilding public trust in the police force through robust partnerships.

Arase urged the newly-deployed CPs to demonstrate effective and efficient leadership, warning that the commission would not tolerate any excuses for failure in their duties.

While expressing the commission’s commitment to supporting the CPs in their roles, Arase underscored the paramount importance of ensuring the security of lives and properties in their respective areas of jurisdiction.

He urged the CPs to prioritize this responsibility and work diligently to maintain peace and order within their commands.
