Hundreds of supporters of the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, took to the streets of Port Harcourt on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, demanding his immediate reinstatement, okay.ng reports.

The peaceful demonstration began along Aggrey Road in the Old Port Harcourt Township, with participants dressed in black attire and carrying placards expressing solidarity with the embattled governor.

Slogans on the placards included messages such as “Together we stand for Governor Sim Fubara,” “We want back our Governor, we all voted for,” and “Governor Fubara is the pride of Rivers People.”

The protest is the latest in a wave of public demonstrations—both in support of and against Governor Fubara—following the political crisis that erupted in Rivers State on March 18. On that day, President Bola Tinubu declared a State of Emergency in the state, leading to the suspension of Governor Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu, and members of the State House of Assembly.

The ongoing political unrest has deepened divisions within the state, with supporters of the governor insisting on his legitimacy and return to office.
