Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, has defended the president’s fall during the Democracy Day event at Eagle Square in Abuja.

Onanuga stated that Tinubu is human and can slip or fall like anyone else, citing examples of US Presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama who also slipped while in office.

The president’s fall has attracted various reactions from Nigerians, with some mocking the incident and others downplaying it. However, Onanuga emphasized that the incident should not detract from the importance of the democracy day celebration.

Former Senator Shehu Sani also defended Tinubu’s fall, stating that anyone can trip and fall, and that presidents are human beings and mortals.

Despite the fall, President Tinubu continued with the proceedings, waving to the crowd and showing his resilience. The incident has sparked a wider conversation about the human side of political leaders and the importance of not judging them too harshly for minor mishaps.
