The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has called on organizers of the planned nationwide protest to provide necessary details to the Commissioners of Police in their respective states. This move aims to ensure the protest remains peaceful and incident-free.

While acknowledging the constitutional right to peaceful assembly and protest, Egbetokun emphasized the need for public safety and order. He requested that protest organizers provide information on:

– Proposed protest routes and assembly points
– Expected duration of the protest
– Names and contact details of protest leaders and organizers
– Measures to prevent hijacking by criminal elements
– Key identifiers for potential troublemakers

According to the Police, by submitting these details, they aim at facilitating a successful and peaceful protest.
