In commemoration of National Police Day, the Nasarawa State Police Command has initiated a series of community-centric programs designed to bolster police-community relations. These initiatives include a free medical outreach and a comprehensive sensitization campaign, both aligned with the directives of Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun. National Police Day, observed annually on April 7th, is a presidential-approved occasion to acknowledge the dedication and sacrifices of police officers in upholding national security, peace, and justice, as well as to honor those who have fallen in the line of duty.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, announced that the activities commenced at the Police Officers’ Mess in Lafia with a free medical outreach and awareness campaign. This medical initiative, running from April 2nd to 3rd, 2025, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, provides free medical consultations, treatments for common illnesses, blood pressure and sugar checks, deworming for children, and vaccinations.

Beyond the medical outreach, the command has organized a range of programs aimed at fostering stronger community engagement and promoting public safety. These include stakeholder engagement and sensitization sessions, environmental sanitation and cleanup campaigns, and awareness campaigns against cultism and other social vices. Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has encouraged public participation in these activities, emphasizing that robust police-community partnerships are essential for building a safer and more secure Nasarawa State.
