The Borno State Police Command has apprehended eight suspects in connection with the murder of a lecturer from the Department of Physical Health Education at the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID). The lecturer, Dr. Abdulkadir Kamal, was found dead in his office.

According to ASP Daso Kenneth, spokesman for the Borno State Police Command, the suspects were arrested following a report filed by the university’s Chief Security Officer. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the motives behind the heinous act.

Prof. Danjuma Gambo, the university’s spokesman, confirmed that Dr. Abdulkadir was murdered in his office on Sunday evening. The assailants reportedly attacked him while he was attending to pending work, leaving him brutally murdered with a knife and hammer.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the university community, with many attributing the murder to Dr. Abdulkadir’s role as the faculty examination officer. However, authorities have emphasized the need for a thorough investigation to ascertain the true motives behind the crime.
