A tragic plane crash occurred in the Brazilian state of São Paulo on Friday, claiming the lives of all 62 people onboard.

The Voepass airline flight, carrying 58 passengers and four crew members, was en route from Cascavel in the southern state of Paraná to São Paulo’s main airport when it went down in the town of Vinhedo.

Footage circulating on social media shows the plane descending vertically, spiraling as it plummeted to the ground. The aircraft landed in a residential area, but fortunately, no one on the ground was injured, authorities confirmed.

Local authorities in Valinhos, near Vinhedo, confirmed that everyone on board the flight had perished in the crash. The cause of the accident remains unclear, and Voepass has stated that they have activated all available resources to support those involved in the aftermath of the disaster.

“Voepass has activated all means to support those involved. There is still no confirmation of how the accident occurred or the current situation of the people on board,” the airline said in a statement.

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, upon hearing of the crash, held a minute of silence during an event he was attending. He expressed his condolences on social media, stating, “The crash is very sad. All my solidarity to the families and friends of the victims.”

Officials reported that only one home in the local condominium complex was damaged, and no residents were harmed. Seven firefighting teams were involved in the emergency response.

The São Paulo Fire Department posted on X (formerly Twitter), stating: “Aircraft crash, 7 teams involved, so far only this information.”
