Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections has issued a fervent call for increased funding for Nigeria’s armed forces and security agencies. His plea aims to bolster their capabilities and operations.

During his visit to the victims at the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital in Kaduna’s state capital, Obi expressed deep concern over the nation’s unfortunate history of 16 accidental military bombings, resulting in over 500 casualties.

He criticized the lack of tangible action taken by the Federal Government to prevent the recurrence of the unfortunate incident.

Okay.ng reports that the former governor of Anambra State stressed the imperative nature of government support for the military, emphasizing that adequate funding stands as a pivotal measure in averting future accidental bombings and addressing the diverse and evolving security threats confronting the nation.

Obi advocated for a comprehensive investigation into the recent military air strike.

Furthermore, he urged the establishment of a dedicated foundation aimed at providing support to the victims of the Tudun Biri drone attack, especially focusing on those orphaned by this harrowing incident.

In his address, Obi highlighted the critical role of government intervention in not only rectifying past tragedies but also in proactively ensuring the safety and security of Nigerian citizens in the face of emerging security challenges.
