Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has responded to the recent ruling by the Federal High Court affirming Barrister Julius Abure as the authentic national chairman of the party.

The court upheld the validity of the 2024 Labour Party national convention held in Nnewi, where Abure was reelected, declaring that the convention adhered to all relevant laws in Nigeria.

In his reaction on Wednesday, Obi, via a post on his X handle, expressed optimism about the party’s future, emphasizing unity and strength in the face of the ruling.

He mentioned a recent meeting he had with Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, the Caretaker Chairman, and the Secretary of the Labour Party to discuss the party’s future.

“Yesterday, Governor Alex Otti @alexottiofr and I, along with the Caretaker Chairman and Secretary of the Labour Party, convened to discuss and review recent developments, including the judgment delivered by an Abuja High Court on the same day,” Obi wrote.

He called on all party members to remain calm and patient, stressing that the Labour Party’s goal is to emerge stronger and more unified amid the challenges.

“Our goal is to emerge stronger and more unified, standing together as one united front. We must not allow this to divert us from addressing the pressing issues affecting our people today,” Obi stated.

“We have always known that the task of creating a new Nigeria that is possible will not come without challenges.”
