The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly criticized the suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, describing it as a blatant attempt to silence her following her allegations of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP condemned the Senate leadership’s decision, labeling it as an act of desperation and a calculated effort to cover up the serious allegations. The party argued that the suspension undermines the principles of justice, fairness, and accountability, which are fundamental to democratic governance.

The PDP emphasized that the action against Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan raises serious concerns about the integrity of the Senate leadership and its commitment to addressing issues of misconduct. Instead of addressing the allegations transparently, the party accused the Senate of resorting to punitive measures to intimidate and suppress dissent.

The statement further called on the Senate to prioritize ethical leadership and ensure that all allegations are thoroughly investigated in a fair and impartial manner. The PDP urged the public to hold the Senate leadership accountable, stressing that no individual or institution should be above scrutiny.

As the controversy continues to unfold, the PDP’s stance has sparked widespread debate, with many Nigerians questioning the motives behind Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension. The party’s condemnation highlights the growing tension within the political landscape and underscores the need for transparency and accountability in addressing allegations of misconduct.
