The Sun reports that PDP has set out to compensate the south east heavily with positions against. This is to counter the perceived marginalisation of the region by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC).

Apart from the position of the vice presidency, the south east will also get the position of the national legal adviser, national treasurer and national youth leader.

By the arrangement of the PDP, the north apart from getting the position of the presidency will also retain the Senate president seat which at present is occupied by Senator Bukola Saraki of the APC.
