The Peoples Democratic Party has deleted the name of former President Olusegun Obasanjo from the list of its Board of Trustees members.

Obasanjo topped the list of 31 names removed from the board during the PDP’s meeting at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja on Monday.

Among other big names removed from the list are those of three past national chairmen of the party –Barnabas Gemade, Kawu Baraje and Bamanga Tukur.

The rest are former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola; former Senate President Ken Nnamani; former Gombe State Governor Danjuma Goje; former Akwa Ibom State Governor Victor Attah; and Jim Nwobodo. The names of five former Speakers of the House of Representatives – Salihu Buhari, Ghali Na’Abba, Aminu Masari, Patricia Ette and Aminu Tambuwal –were also deleted from the list.

Obasanjo resigned his membership of the party before the 2015 general elections.

He tore his membership card after sending a letter to the national leadership of the party complaining about the role being played by Senator Buruji Kashamu in the party in the South-West.

The PDP’s NEC agreed that two female members would be elected from the North-Central, one from the North-East and one from the North-West to the new BoT.
