The Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP), Prince Uche Secondus has been released from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Secondus, who was arrested about a week ago, was said to have been released at about 8.30 pm, Wednesday night, The Nation reports.

The EFCC had detained Secondus for receiving 23 exotic vehicles from Jide Omokore of Atlantic Energy, a business associate of ex-Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke.

Secondus reportedly received the said 25 exotic cars for distribution to respective beneficiaries- believed to be members of the Peoples Democratic Party.

While in detention, the EFCC was said to have asked Secondus to refund the cost of the cars- N310 million- to the Federal Government, and he was reported to have agreed to do the needful.

Before his release on Wednesday, Secondus was made to produce two sureties with a N750 million bond each while his passport was also seized.

Secondus’ counsel, Mr. Emeka Etiaba (SAN), said: “The PDP Deputy National Chairman has been released but under extremely stringent conditions. For a man whose alleged offence has not been proven, he does not deserve stringent bail terms.”
