Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, has voluntarily presented himself to the Lagos State Police Command following the widespread circulation of a video allegedly showing him brandishing a firearm during an interaction with a content creator on a Lagos roadway.
This development was confirmed to okay.ng from the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin.
The controversy began last week when a video surfaced online depicting Pastor Adefarasin holding a metallic object while conversing with a passerby who was recording the encounter. The footage quickly went viral, sparking public debate and speculation. Many social media users asserted that the pastor was wielding a gun during the confrontation.
In response to the uproar, Pastor Adefarasin addressed his congregation via a message posted on his social media platforms last Saturday. He clarified that the object in question was not a firearm and stressed that he never pointed it at anyone, describing the incident as a misunderstanding.
Meanwhile, CSP Hundeyin’s message to okay.ng revealed that the pastor had turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja and was undergoing interrogation by detectives. “No one is above the law! Pastor Paul Adefarasin has turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, and is currently being interrogated by detectives,” Hundeyin wrote.
The police have initiated an investigation into the matter, particularly focusing on the video showing the pastor holding a gun-like object while driving an unregistered vehicle. CSP Hundeyin assured that the outcome of the investigation would be made public once concluded.
