Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is in the early lead in the gubernatorial election held on March 18 in the South-West state.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Makinde has won 17 of the 18 local government (LG) election results announced so far.

The election results collated by the electoral umpire shows that Makinde, who is seeking reelection on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has won in 17 LGs, while Teslim Folarin of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won in one LG.

Of the 33 LGs in the state, 18 LGs results have been announced by INEC, with 15 more LGs results yet to be announced.
