Ahead of the local government elections in Benue State, over 3000 members of the opposition People’s Democratic Party in Benue North West aka zone ‘B’ Thursday defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defectors cut across the Tiv, Hausa, Igbo, Etulo and other communities in the senatorial district.

They were led by their various leaders, with their former party (PDP) membership cards destroyed in broad daylight.

Addressing the defectors, Governor Samuel Ortom commended them for taking a wise decision to join the ruling party to help clear the mess inflicted on the people by the PDP administration.

The governor assured the defectors of equal treatment in the APC government, and tasked them to work assiduously to ensure the victory of the party in the forthcoming local government elections.

Also speaking, leader of APC in the state and Senator representing Benue North West, Senator George Akume, admonished the people to support the administration of Governor Ortom, assuring that he will not disappoint them.
