Nigerian singer Oritsefemi has revealed that he provided shelter to Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy during a turbulent period years ago.

In a recent interview with Chude Jideonwo, Oritsefemi shared that Burna Boy, known for his hit ‘On The Low’, sought refuge at his home following a disagreement with his mother, Bose Ogulu.

“Burna Boy came to live in my house after a disagreement with his mum,” Oritsefemi recounted. “He stayed with me because he felt suffocated by his mother at home. He cried to me, and said, ‘Bro, you will become somebody someday’.”

This revelation comes as a reminder of Burna Boy’s previous public fallout with his mother. In 2014, Burna Boy announced via his X (formerly Twitter) account that Bose Ogulu would no longer be his manager.

He expressed gratitude for her efforts but decided it was time for a professional separation, stating, “It’s been a long road to where I am today and my mother Bose Ogulu has managed me the best she could up till this point and am grateful…at this point in my life and career, it is time to let my mother be my mother and let my manager be my manager, therefore Bose Ogulu is no longer my manager.”

Despite the split, Bose Ogulu resumed her role as Burna Boy’s manager in 2017, a position she continues to hold.
