The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has shared a surprising encounter he had with the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, revealing that the monarch once chased him out of his palace.

The revelation was made in a now-viral video circulating on social media, where the Ooni recounted the incident while explaining his decision to maintain a distance from the Oluwo.

According to the Ooni, the incident occurred during a visit to the Oluwo’s palace, where he was unexpectedly treated in a disrespectful manner.

“When I visited Oluwo, he chased me out like a child,” the Ooni narrated. “I have always maintained myself going close to him since that incident.”

Despite this experience, the Ooni expressed his intent to handle the situation with grace, citing his role as a leader and elder among monarchs.

“Now that you people are imploring that I visit him again, what if he does the same? But I have to contain his excesses as an elder, although I’m a young person but I’m sitting on the throne of the elders. Oluwo, I greet you,” the Ooni added.

While the Ooni did not elaborate on any ongoing rift between himself and the Oluwo, his remarks have drawn attention due to the high regard in which both monarchs are held within Osun State and beyond.
