Ace Nigerian actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, popularly known as Omosexy, has opened up about the reasons behind her intermittent breaks from the Nollywood film industry.

In a recent social media post, the 46-year-old star revealed that her periodic hiatuses are intentional, allowing her time to relax, reflect, and recharge after long stints of work.

Addressing the curiosity of her fans, Omotola explained, “I know many don’t understand why I step away from movies for a few years and then come back again!”

She added, “I’ve seen fans asking when I’ll return to the screen, but when you’ve been working since 15 like I have… you’ll understand the need to relax, relive, relearn, and recharge. Who gets it and who’s following?”

Having launched her acting career at just 15, Omotola has become a leading figure in Nollywood.

She made her debut in 1995, starring in Venom of Justice, and has since featured in over 300 films, earning both domestic and international recognition.

In 2021, Omotola relocated with her family to the United States. She is married to Captain Matthew Ekeinde, and the couple celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary in March 2023.
