Ogun State Has Over 1000 Illegal Borders — Gov. Amosun

Governor Ibikunle Amosun has declared that Ogun state has the largest number of borders, mostly illegal across the state.

Amosun hinted that all the illegal borders scattered in some parts of Ogun West Senatorial District has been causing huge challenges to the state in the area of security.

The governor stated this Sunday night during his interactive session with the people of Ogun state on both OGTV and OGBC, the state owned media houses.

He noted that no investor will come in to a place that is not safe. “The illegal borders are in Ipokia, Imeko Afon, Yewa North and now, many are springing up in Ado-Odo/Ota axis of the state, they are giving us huge challenges”, the governor revealed.

The governor reminded the people that security and access to good roads hinders investors from investing.

He stated that the government is trying to recreate the areas so as to create enabling environment for potential investors, noting that, this will in turn, assist in driving job opportunities either directly or indirectly to our teeming youths across the state.

“What many people don’t know is that Ogun state is having the largest number of borders in this country. Ogun has over 100 illegal borders.

“I don’t want to be saying this again but when we came on board, many companies could not operate beyond 4:00 pm but now they are working on shift basis because the security condition has improved.

“All the investors are willing to come to Ogun because we have about seven industrial hubs now in the state. We have the best Armoured Personnel Carrier, APC in this country today because we can boost of 14 functioning APC’s. The APC’s can move 200km per hour.

He added that the APC’s were purchased from California, USA.

He then stated that: “Before we came, the state has about 20 Hilux SUVs and of the 20, about 17 were working but now we have over 300 Hilux. All security agencies in the state including the police, NSCDC, DSS, vigilante service have improved in the state.

“When we came in in 2011, Ogun state was ranked 35th among the 36 states but now we are in the three.”

Amosun however assured the people of the state that the government will optimize the resources abound to jack up the Internally Generated Revenue, IGR of the state.

He urged them to play their own parts as the government is keen in doing its part, added that all hands must be on the deck for the forthcoming 40th anniversary celebration of the state, coming up next month.
