Major General Christopher Jemitola (Retd.), who served as the Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to former President Olusegun Obasanjo from 2003 to 2007, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025.

He collapsed at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Jemitola, a native of Ososo in Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, had a distinguished military career. Beyond his role as ADC, he served as the Director of Defence Information and as Nigeria’s Defence Attaché in Brazil.

Before retiring, he held the position of Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP) in the Nigerian Army, where his strategic insights were invaluable.

The news of his sudden demise was a profound shock to many, especially to those who worked closely with him.

Former Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who served as Lagos State Military Administrator under Obasanjo’s regime, recounted the emotional moment he informed Obasanjo of Jemitola’s passing.

Oyinlola expressed deep regret over being the bearer of such tragic news, stating, “I regretted being the one who broke the news of the death of the late senior officer to former President Olusegun Obasanjo.”

Jemitola’s tenure as ADC was marked by unwavering dedication and professionalism. Colleagues remember him as a disciplined officer who played a pivotal role during Obasanjo’s presidency.
