NVIDIA Shield Tablet K1

Design and Display

The NVIDIA Shield Tablet K1 shows some upgrades in terms of how it looks. Unlike the shiny edges of the original device, the slate spots matte appearance. The speaker grills now feature an improved rubber material instead of plastic that was previously used. At a weight of about 356 grams, this one doesn’t appear very heavy for a tablet.

Users may expect great visuals. This is because it rocks an 8-inch multi-touch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. The NVIDIA Shield Tablet K1 is rated as 4K Ultra-HD ready.

Performance and OS

You won’t be wrong to expect superb performance, especially as regards gaming, on the NVIDIA Shield Tablet K1. It comes with a Tegra K1 processor. This has a quad-core Cortex A15 CPU clocked at 2.2 GHz and an NVIDIA Kepler GPU with 192 cores. This one is definitely set up for enjoyable gaming performance. The RAM size is 2 GB.

The tablet shipped with Android Lollipop when first released. But NVIDIA now offers users access to version 6.0 Marshmallow. This is in keeping with the company’s promise to keep the device updated.

Other Specs and Features

An advanced SHIELD controller enhances the gaming experience. There is a pair of 5-megapixel snappers on offer. You may get a NVIDIA Shield Tablet K1 cover accessory, which also serves as a kickstand, to use as a mini laptop. If you wish to do some drawing and note-taking, you can also consider getting an optional DirectStylus.

Internal storage has a capacity of 16 GB, extendable up to 128 GB via a microSD card slot. Front-firing stereo speakers with built-in microphone take care of audio. Available interfaces include micro USB 2.0 and mini-HDMI with HDCP 1.4 output.

Wireless connectivity options available in the NVIDIA Shield Tablet K1 include dual band Wi-Fi 802.11 with MIMO and Bluetooth 4.0 LE. Users enjoy access to NVIDIA GeForce Now game streaming service.

NVIDIA Shield Tablet K1 is not yet available in Nigeria, Kenya, and Ghana. Price starts at 199.99 in the United States. You may be able to find the game-focused tablet at leading online stores in your country. NVIDIA Shield Tablet K1 Price in Nigeria is expected to range from 80,000 Naira to 200,000 Naira depending on the model.
