Nuhu Ribadu, Nigeria’s National Security Adviser (NSA), has asserted that the country is more secure under President Bola Tinubu’s administration than it was during the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Okay.ng reports.

Speaking during the News Agency of Nigeria’s (NAN) 1st annual lecture on Thursday, Ribadu emphasized that although the current administration has been relatively quiet, it has been working diligently to restore order and stability across the country.

“We don’t talk much. We have not been talking because we are working. We work, we talk less. Nigeria is getting to be stable. We are restoring order. You will feel it. You will see it. Just give us time,” Ribadu stated.

Recalling the security challenges faced in 2022, Ribadu highlighted the frequent attacks by terrorists and bandits, particularly in the nation’s capital, Abuja, where prisons were raided, and soldiers were killed.

“Don’t forget Nigeria of 2022. In Abuja, bad people, terrorists, bandits will come here and kill our soldiers. A Nigeria where people will come to attack our prison, Kuje Prisons, and remove dangerous people – just in 2022. A Nigeria where people attack trains and kidnap people,” Ribadu said.

He praised the progress made since Tinubu assumed office, claiming that bandits and Boko Haram terrorists are now on the run, with significant improvements in the security situation across the country.

“And we came in, today, Abuja is secured. You can drive at night and travel to Kaduna, Lokoja, Minna, and Lafiya and feel safe just in one year, three or four months,” Ribadu noted.

The NSA further mentioned the elimination of over 20 high-profile bandits, contributing to the improved safety and security in the country. Boko Haram, he said, is also now significantly weakened and on the run.

“In Nigeria today, bandits are on the run. Over 20 of bad bandits are no more. I can give you names. They are no more. A Nigeria where Boko Haram is on the run. It is a reminder of how things have changed,” Ribadu concluded.
