The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, has announced Wednesday, April 10, as the day of Eid-Fitri, marking the end of Ramadan fasting for Muslims in Nigeria.

In a statement released on Monday evening by the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs to the Sultanate Council, Prof Sambo Junaidu, it was revealed that the decision was made following reports from National Moon Sighting Committees across the country, confirming no sighting of the new moon.

The statement conveyed the Sultan’s acceptance of the report and the subsequent declaration of Wednesday, April 10, 2024, as the first day of Shawwal 1445AH, signifying the beginning of Eid-Fitri celebrations.

It reads: “His Eminence, the Sultan felicitates with the Nigerian Muslim Ummah and wishes them Allah’s guidance and blessings.
