Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd, recently held discussions with Daewoo Engineering and Construction (Daewoo E&C) to explore potential collaboration in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector.

The meeting between Kyari and Daewoo E&C took place at the global headquarters of the engineering and construction company in Seoul, South Korea.

The talks come at a time when the international community is displaying an increased interest in making investments in Nigeria’s energy industry.

This is not the first engagement between NNPC and Daewoo E&C. In February 2023, NNPC signed a maintenance services contract with Daewoo E&C, focusing on the quick-fix repair of the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC).

The NNPC statement highlighted that Kyari met with Wonju Jung, the Group Chairman of Daewoo E&C, along with Jungwan Baek, the Chief Executive Officer and President of the company.

“This visit underscores the growing interest from the international community in investing in Nigeria’s energy industry, buoyed by the efforts of the administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to foster a conducive business environment with a focus on the oil and gas sector,” the statement said.
