The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has announced the inaugural meeting of the Startup Consultative Forum, set to hold on Monday, April 28, 2025.

The event is described as a milestone move towards strengthening stakeholder engagement and fostering collaboration within Nigeria’s startup ecosystem.

According to the agency, the Forum will provide an interactive platform for startup founders, innovators, ecosystem enablers, and intermediaries to actively contribute to national policy development aimed at driving growth, investment, and digital innovation.

Okay.ng reports that the initiative is being convened under the framework of the Nigeria Startup Act (NSA), which seeks to position startups not just as participants but as key contributors to policy decisions shaping the future of innovation in the country.

“This Forum reflects the government’s commitment to building an enabling environment where startups are empowered to thrive and actively shape the digital economy,” NITDA said in a statement signed by Mrs Hadiza Umar fnipr, Director, Corporate Communications and Media Relations Department on Tuesday.

A major highlight of the meeting will be the nomination and selection of representatives to serve on the National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Startup Council)—the highest advisory body for Nigeria’s startup ecosystem. The agency emphasized that decisions from the Forum will set the tone for inclusive and responsive policy-making that directly addresses the needs of the tech community.

NITDA has extended an open invitation to Labelled Startups, Verified Entrepreneurial and Innovation Support Organisations, Angel Investors, Venture Capitalists, and other key stakeholders to participate actively in the nomination and voting process.

“Join us in shaping the future of digital innovation in Nigeria. Together, we can build a thriving ecosystem that supports and celebrates the pioneering spirit of Nigerian startups,” the agency added.
