The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather outlook forecasting cloudiness and thunderstorms across the country from Friday to Sunday.

In its latest weather forecast released on Thursday, NiMet anticipated sunny skies with a hazy atmosphere prevailing over the northern region on Friday. However, pockets of clouds may be visible in Taraba state.

For the north-central region, NiMet predicted a combination of sunny atmosphere and patches of clouds during the forecast period.

“The southern region is expected to experience a cloudy atmosphere with prospects of morning thunderstorms over parts of Cross River and Akwa Ibom states,” the forecast highlighted.

NiMet further projected sunny skies with the possibility of thunderstorms in parts of Kaduna state. Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are expected over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Nasarawa, Kwara, Kogi, and Plateau states.

“In the southern region, a cloudy atmosphere with intervals of sunshine is expected, with prospects of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, and Rivers states in the morning hours. Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are expected over the region,” the forecast continued.

NiMet urged the public to take necessary precautions, as strong winds may precede the rains in areas where thunderstorms are likely to occur.

Additionally, airline operators were advised to make use of weather reports from NiMet for effective planning.
