The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather forecast predicting haziness and cloudiness across the country from Monday to Wednesday.

In its weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja, NiMet projected moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility ranging from 2km to 5km over the northern and North Central states.

“Except Benue, Kogi, and Kwara where patches of cloud in a hazy atmosphere are anticipated. Patches of clouds are expected over the Inland of the South throughout the forecast period,” NiMet stated.

The agency further highlighted the likelihood of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Edo, Ondo, Ogun, Lagos, Delta, Rivers, and Bayelsa states during the afternoon and evening hours.

NiMet also anticipated a slight dust haze over the northern region on Wednesday, with patches of cloud in a hazy atmosphere expected over the North Central region. However, isolated thunderstorms were forecasted over parts of Plateau, Kwara, Benue, and Kogi states later in the day.

In the southern region, patches of clouds are expected over the inland areas and the coast in the morning, with prospects of isolated thunderstorms later in the day over several states, including Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo, Edo, Oyo, Ondo, Lagos, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Delta.

NiMet advised individuals with respiratory issues to wear face masks where possible and recommended that children and the elderly wear warm clothing at night. Additionally, it urged the public to pay special attention to their skin, eyes, and lips, moisturizing them as much as possible.

The agency also provided guidance for airline operators, advising them to obtain updated weather reports and forecasts from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.
