SUPER EAGLESThe Super Eagles of Nigeria continued their impressive rise in the FIFA world rankings as they moved up 10 places from 60th spot to 50th in the latest rankings released on Thursday.

They are joint 50th with Burkina Faso who also enjoyed a massive improvement, moving up 17 places. Nigeria’s points haul also improved from 562 to 616 in the month under review.

The Eagles’ brilliant rise in the rankings is not unconnected to their recent impressive results in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers following wins against Zambia (2-1) and Algeria (3-1).

On the continent, the Eagles are currently sixth (joint with Burkina Faso) after being out of the top 10 for a long time. Senegal are Africa’s number one team and are 33rd in the world.
