The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been drawn in Group C of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, alongside Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda.

The draw ceremony, held in Morocco on Monday, sets the stage for a thrilling tournament, with Nigeria expected to rekindle its rivalry with Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles in what promises to be a mouthwatering encounter.

Tunisia, champions on home soil in 2004, eliminated Nigeria in the semi-finals of that year’s AFCON and went on to defeat Morocco in the final.

The Carthage Eagles also ousted Nigeria in the Round of 16 at AFCON 2021 in Cameroon. Nigeria, however, has its own historic triumphs against Tunisia, including a memorable 4-2 victory on its way to the 2000 AFCON final against Cameroon in Lagos.

While Nigeria and Tunisia are the favorites in Group C, Tanzania and Uganda will also pose a challenge as they compete for the two automatic qualifying spots.

  • Group B: Egypt, South Africa, Angola, and Zimbabwe.
  • Group D: 2021 champions Senegal, DR Congo, Benin, and Botswana.
  • Group E: Algeria, Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, and Sudan.
  • Group F: Defending champions Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Gabon, and Mozambique.
